Empowering Young Victorians: Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) Making a Difference

The Victorian Local Learning and Employment Networks (VicLLENs) are playing a pivotal role in bridging the gap between education and employment for young people across the state. For over 20 years we have been fostering partnerships with schools, TAFEs, businesses, and community organisations.

Operating across Victoria, the 31 Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) work tirelessly to facilitate collaboration among local stakeholders. Their mission is to develop programs and initiatives that address the specific educational and employment needs of young people. From creating opportunities for work placements and apprenticeships to providing vital industry exposure, LLENs are equipping young Victorians with the skills and experience necessary to succeed in today’s workforce.

Building a Stronger Future

The work of the VicLLENs is not just about providing immediate opportunities but also about laying the foundation for long-term economic growth and social cohesion in Victoria. By supporting young people to discover their aspirations and uncover their capabilities, LLENs are helping to create a brighter future for individuals and communities alike.

Since 2016, as a network, we have coordinated over 25,000 School to Work placements, currently working with more than 6,500 employers across the state. These partnerships are critical in opening doors for young people, helping them gain hands-on experience, and building pathways to meaningful careers.

A Call to Action

“We urge everyone to join us in supporting the future of our young people,” VicLLENs Chair Fiona Purcell said. “Together, we can create more opportunities and build stronger pathways to success for the next generation.

“Employer and community support for our work is crucial in making a lasting impact on our community’s educational and employment outcomes.”

Nat Mouvet, Executive Officer at Northern Mallee LLEN added, “Our collective effort to support students to capitalise on local learning and employment opportunities will benefit our rural communities for generations to come.”

Get Involved

As we look ahead, VicLLENs remain committed to fostering innovation and collaboration to meet the evolving needs of young people and the workforce. By addressing local challenges and leveraging community strengths, LLENs continue to be a driving force for positive change in Victoria.

Invest in the future of our youth for the greater good of our community.
